Humpback whale Tic-Tac-Toe

This female named Tic-Tac-Toe can be easily identified with the individual pigmentation pattern on the underside of the flukes, especially the X. She was born in Caribbean waters in winter 1996/97. Since then she has almost yearly visited the St. Lawrence Gulf in Eastern Canada. In these productive waters she finds huge amounts of prey to build up enough fat reserves for her journeys and the long winter months. To date she has raised four calves!
